The project, won by SONACA (leader), STRATOS and M3 Systems Belgium, started on December, 3th 2020 and will continue until April, 4th 2022. This project is part of ESA-NAVISP program.
Purpose of this project is to investigate all benefits and added value that HAPS could bring to Search And Rescue (SAR) service, through feasibility study and demonstration (by simulations and field experiments). M3 Systems Belgium will oversee existing solutions review (COSPAS-SARSAT system), scenarios definition and implementation (overall system definition). Simulation tool to evaluate expected performances will be developed. A demonstration is planned with beacon and SatCom payload aboard the BOREAL drone to demonstrate feasibility and assess proposed performances.
