Engineer ATM at M3 Systems

What is an ATM engineer?

The Air Traffic Management (ATM) Engineer plays a central role in developing solutions to manage increasingly congested airspace and more complex air traffic while improving economic efficiency. Their work involves actively participating in the definition, design, and validation of ATM systems. From innovatively designing concepts to their validation and operational deployment, the ATM engineer works in a multicultural environment, understanding the various perspectives of air traffic stakeholders and addressing the major challenges of European air traffic management.

In the scope of their responsibilities, the ATM engineer supports pre-sales activities by contributing to defining specifications for needs and potential evolution. In addition to their technical skills, they take full project management responsibility, including planning, quality, and costs.

The Profile and Attitude of the ATM Engineer

The ATM engineer should hold an engineering degree (or an equivalent Master’s level degree), preferably with a specialization in aeronautics. They must have experience in air traffic management, with a good understanding of air traffic control operations, airport operations, and airspace management.

The Air Traffic Management engineer must be proficient in common project management tools as well as project management resources and methodologies. They should be capable of formally implementing project processes, from initiation to delivery, while adhering to contractual agreements.

They must also be able to summarize and consolidate client needs, identify the skills required for the project (technical and non-technical), define objectives, and plan and monitor project budgets.

Beyond technical skills, the ideal ATM engineer should possess excellent interpersonal skills and a keen sense of organization. They must be adaptable to evolving client needs and find solutions accordingly.
